Our Pastor's History and Profile

Dr. Frederick Thompson is Pastor and Founder of Word of Life Christian Center in Wrightstown, New Jersey. He considers it a tremendous honor to serve God by serving His people. He is married to First Lady Roseclair Thompson of Saint Vincent, West Indies. God has blessed them with two sons, Rasheed and Cedric. Pastor and family reside in Westampton Township, NJ.

Dr. Thompson was called by God to be a Pastor and Teacher. The Lord has graciously placed an anointing upon him to teach with simplicity and with life changing power. He is overwhelmed by God's goodness in his life and ministry and is pleased to be used by God. He began his teaching ministry in July of 1989 while stationed overseas in Japan.  After returning to the states, he and his wife joined Church on the Rock where he was licensed and ordained in 1992 and 1994 respectively.

Dr .Thompson has served in many leadership positions. He was the President of the Incirlik Christian Ministerial Alliance while stationed in Turkey. Additionally, he served as the Assistant Pastor at the Base Chapel during that same tour. Part of his responsibilities were to train other ministers to be effective leaders in the church. He was also privileged to serve on the Board of Elders at Christian Faith Assembly in Hainesport, New Jersey under the leadership and tutelage of Apostle Dr. Maurice Randolph and Rev. Dr. Kathleen Harris. It was at Christian Faith Assembly that God made it very clear to Pastor Thompson that he was called to establish a Christ centered, spirit filled church, with an emphasis on a sound teaching ministry.

Dr. Thompson has been blessed to obtain a sound education as it relates to his military career and his ministry. He has earned 2 associates degrees from the Community College of the Air Force.  Additionally, he has been certified by the Community College of the Air Force as an Occupational Instructor. In 1995 he met all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion with a minor in Business Administration at Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S. Carolina -graduating Cum Laude. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in May 2004. In December 2006, he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, with a focus in Preaching and Leadership. In spite of his ministerial and secular education, Pastor Thompson relies upon the anointing of God.

Dr. Thompson is committed to raising up believers that are strong in faith, mature in their walk, and are passionately following God's will for their lives. The Lord has also given him a mandate to raise up strong leaders in the local church that will be sent out to serve faithfully in various parts of the larger body of Christ. He is very serious about the responsibilities that God has placed in his hands. With the help of the Lord and his anointed wife, Pastor Thompson fully expects to have a worldwide ministry that reaches untold millions. So in advance and in anticipation, he wants to be heard saying, "To God be the glory for the great things He has done." Praise the Name of the Lord!

Philosophy of Ministry

Everything that a church does should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. All ministries that a church undertakes must be for His glory, honor, and praise--for He is the Head of the Church. The Pastor of the local church serves as an under shepherd of the Chief Shepherd and Bishop of our souls--the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Pastor cannot accomplish the ministry of the local church alone. Therefore, the Pastor must be one that equips and trains the people of God. The Apostle Paul makes this point clear in Ephesians 4:11-16. Pastors/ministers are called, empowered, and tasked with the responsibility of equipping and preparing the believers for the task(s) that God has called them to do. The church is strengthened as every joint supplies what God has entrusted to them. According to 1 Peter 4:10-11, all believers have a God-given gift whereby they can serve the church and/or reach out to those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, the ministry of the church will be accomplished as the pastor/ministers and believers work in concert with the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

Though the Pastor is the leader of the local church under Christ, wise leadership is shared leadership. Moses was burning out while trying to lead Israel by himself. His father-in-law Jethro told him that the work was too heavy for him alone. He instructed Moses to select capable people to carry the load of leadership with him (Exodus 18:13-27). Following this godly wisdom, the ministry of Word of Life Christian Center will not rise or fall on the shoulders of the Pastor alone. Though the Pastor is an integral part of the ministry, Jesus Christ must remain at the very center of all that transpires in ministry. To our Savior be glory, honor, dominion, and power--both now and forever more!
